What's interesting about the situation of the Democratic Party in the US is that leftists like Mamdani are winning nominations within the party, then going on to win elections, but the centrist 'Corporate Dems' still won't support them.
Throughout the world, the centre-left's rationale for not allying with the further-left is that they will lose more centrist voters, and therefore lose elections.
Does the US example show... what ?
That they simply miscalculate - and in fact a bold left programme can attract more formerly disillusioned voters on the left than it loses in the centre ?
Or that the electoral rationale was always just a shallow rationalisation, and the centre-left just ideologically rejects the further-left - but disguises this ideology behind an imagined real-politik 'pragmatism' ?
@GeofCox If we stop thinking in terms of political left and right for a moment, I believe it shows that people want change that improves their lives. Centrist Dems, and indeed mainstream politicians in most countries, accept financial support from vested interests opposed to exactly that type of change. It's not the "far left" label that centrist Dems reject, it's the intent of those candidates to make meaningful, positive progress for the electorate.

One of the greatest dangers posed by the recent censorship of A/I is that it could be just a test case for the US government to determine how easily it can isolate and silence privacy-oriented infrastructure beyond its borders.
Anyone who works on or cares about digital infrastructure, privacy, or freedom of expression should be alarmed. This issue concerns more than just one small Italian collective.
I fear this is only the beginning.

Conclusions
I’m happy to report that two solar panels from a recent generation are enough to completely negate the house’s power draw from the grid, for a one person household (while the sun is shining, with some manual repositioning of the panels as the day goes on, and with careful planning of the heavy loads).
Overall, this equipment let me reduce my grid reliance by 62% for this short experiment. And, as I said, there were stretches of multiple hours when the house was drawing nothing at all from the grid.
A few more panels, positioned differently towards the sun, would solve that. And a few more again to account for seasonal changes in the sun’s trajectory in the sky.
My two panels can’t provide enough energy for the entire week, that’s a little too much to ask. Still, they aren’t too far off from that, and just one more panel would likely tie me over. However, I also don’t have enough battery capacity for that, I’d need double what I have.
Placing the panels at ground level has the immense advantage of reduced complexity for installation and maintenance but the main drawback is obviously a much reduced time span when power can be harvested. There are many shadows from nearby walls and my own house. I’m losing several hours per day compared with a roof setup.
The multi function micro inverter that I have and the battery are not necessary for daylight time, as long as the house needs less than 800 W legally (or 650 W realistically). More than 800 W would require a professional to install this. Still requires DC power from the panels converted to AC, so an inverter has to be there, it just doesn’t need to be full featured with a companion mobile app and whatnot.
Using the battery to power most appliances in the house lets me push past the 800 W limit to several times that figure. The battery can discharge confidently at 1800 W to power whatever is plugged directly into it, or up to 2400 W for short bursts, and the inverter can also send up to 600 W from the panels to the grid at the same time.
Of course if the grid goes down, so does my inverter, that is by design. But that is why most of the house can be powered directly by the battery itself, provided the extension cords are sturdy enough… And that’s probably not a great idea long term without asking an electrician to set this up.
Still, I’m convinced that this is one thing we can do to help the grid, especially when heat waves are putting more pressure on the grid as a whole. I’ll try to think of a more permanent setup.

This isn't necessarily a novel thought, but it does kind of make a coherent poly marriage of some ideas I've talked about individually.
Both GUI app sandboxing (like Snap) and most FOSS funding problems come from the same mistake, dating back to the 90's if not the 80's. You see, back then you'd usually buy software, and it needed to have a lot of features to be worth your trouble, and especially to keep coming back for future versions - because that's what it takes to keep an ongoing team of professional software developers employed stably. And if the "back then" sounds funny, it should - this isn't the only software model, but it's never really stopped, and it's had too much influence on people's assumptions outside of paid ecosystem-in-an-app software.
It comes down to this: we think software can't be finished because there's always more to do or add, but actually, there's always more to do or add because we cannot afford for software to be finished... or so we think.

It's OK. This feature is awesome, and one I use heavily.
Every social network needs a few mutes here and there. Nobody inherently deserves anyone’s attention.
If someone replies in a way that makes me think, "I'd rather not hear from this person again,” I just mute forever. No aggressive block, no report or feedback, no way for them to know. It's not meant to send a message, get revenge, or influence anyone else — just tailor my feed for me.
@marcoarment is blocking aggressive?
That said, if someone posts an asshole thing or seems sketchy, i block. Not to send a message, but to rid my life of them.
There’s an infinite supply of people on the internet, and odds are the next person will be better.
And if I accidentally block an okay person? I can take that risk.

If I say, without a little bit of leading the witness: "I think software should be finished, most of the time. I think a plan for the ending should be in mind from the start." That gets a lot of people's hackles up, as if I just said all machines should be perpetual motion. If we try to make the kind of software we're used to, then yes, completion is something we know is difficult to impossible in that world.
If your goals for software are a bit different:
1. Small (both in scope and implementation),
2. Aggressively interoperable with other programs,
3. At peace with being irrelevant someday,
... then it's totally possible to complete software. The ecosystem is never complete, but this piece can be, because it's not trying to itself be an ecosystem with decades of updates in its future.
